Little James Doomore rolled out of bed.
He fell with a thud, nearly hitting his head.
"Little James! Little James!" Came a voice from below.
"Get out of that bed. You're movin' too slow."
"Be right there!" He yelled from above.
Then ran down to breakfast, where he was greeted with love.
"Eat-up, Little J, 'cause you're runnin' late.
The school bell will ring and your teacher won't wait."
"It's that clock, Grandma, I can't read the hands.
No matter how hard I try, I don't understand."
"Then you must hurry, Little J, off to school.
Where you'll learn to tell time and the Golden Rule."
"What rule is that?" He asked with a fuss.
"The greatest of all, the one from Jesus."
"What He said was important.
What He said was true.
Do to others, what you'd have them do to you."
"When you're kind to others and help them out,
you're servin' God - without a doubt."
"So learn your lessons and remember this rule.
Then your days will be happy, as you go to school."
